![]() For more organic resource collection, the Brontosaurus is a solid staple. The burly armadillos are excellent miners, tearing through rocks to collect vast quantities of stone and sand effectively while remaining safe and sound within their shells - the ability to tuck into their shells when damaged makes for a long-lasting beast. Just remember to farm sustainably - that mistake has been made with the Dodo before.įor more industrial resource connection, having a dedicated team of Doedicurus can be extremely handy. A consistent source of raw meat and eggs, having a pen of Dodos to hand can nearly eliminate the need to hunt for basic food resources. A similar necessity for aspiring farmers is a good flock of Dodos. As the proud owner of a dinosaur army, feces will not be in short supply - a nice herd of Beetles will help keep the least pleasant form of clutter down. The inauspicious little bug has the unique ability to transform feces into oil and fertilizer, making them a cornerstone of both basic farm building and advanced equipment crafting. No modern base in Ark is complete without the humble Dung Beetle. Assembling a fleet of these across their environmental spectrum creates a de facto air force for sky-hungry players. Fairly quick and healthy, the Wyvern is taken to the next level by its environmental breath attacks, able to play to the weakness of airborne opponents. For more direct and in some cases literal firepower, the Wyvern is an excellent choice. Though lacking in an inherently high attack, the proto-bird can be bolstered with cannons, which, paired with its fairly high speed and big health bar, make the beast a difficult to humble flying fortress. Ignored by most predators and able to outrun most of the rest, the creature makes an ideal combat scout.īattles in the air are more often than not dominated by the massive Quetzalcoatlus. While lacking the punch and health pool of the Mosasaur, the Ichthyosaur makes up for this in speed. Another choice for those with a taste for speed is the Icthyosaur. This capability is amplified by the ability to strap cannons to the creature, transforming them into something resembling a bio-battleship. The Mosasaurus has a deadly combination of high health and damage from the jump, making them a solid choice even before applying desired upgrades. ![]() Again due to the limited area and range of this attack it would be advised to trap or bola a target if possible before attempting to tame. For a battle in the sea, the go-to choice for many players is the Mosasaurus. This stunning creatures has a rear leg kick attack that will stun anything unfortunate enough to be stood behind it. Acting as a potrable mortor and pestle is not its only additional use. Also if you are every in a difficult situation when out taming, the Beelzebufo has a massive jump range and so can make a quick get away should it be needed.īeing the newest creature added in ARK, this Equus is both beautiful and functional. These moves when used in tandem can also cause a stacking effect on a target.īeing super fast both in land and on water this creature is, for many, the go to when looking for a mounted tame. ![]() (I would suggest increasing melee damdage if this creature is being used soley for taming purposes). With two attacks in its wheelhouse, both the tongue straight attack and tongue swipe attack can be used to increase torpidity to 3X the value of the damage caused. This frog like creature found around the swamplands is one of the most effective and efficient dinos when it comes to taming. However a limitation is that this move can only be executed in a straight line attack and so its best to bola or trap a target first in order to effectively utilise this headbutt attack. It has a charged headbutt attack whick again can increase the torpidity of its target. If one rider on a flyer carries another on a scorpian, you are left with a mobile tranq station to attack birds and other creatures.Īlthough this dino is less effective when trying to increase torpidity, it is a dino that is found in most areas and can be tamed at a very early level. This method has also been used by seasoned veterans when trying to tame a quetz. If you manage to tame one of these creatures (use a bola and tranq arrows/darts knock out), you can then mount them and turn this same fatal attack on other dinos when trying to tame. Often people have come across this move whilst traversing the cave systems or the deserts on Scorched Earth and know the immediate effect this can have on torpidity. This creature has a one of the most effective weapons in its arsenal, which is the use of its sting attack located at the tip of its tail.
